About This Site
This website contains snapshots of people and places in South-East Australia taken between 1948 and 1951.
The reasons for creating the website include giving an insight into car travel in parts of Australia in the middle of the 20th century.
It also shows the advances in personal photography since the old box camera days.
The site is also a record of some of the interesting activities undertaken by the people portrayed in the old snapshots.
There are photos from in and around Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria.
But most of the snaps were taken at various locations during travels by road from Melbourne .
The cars used for the trips were a pre-war Morris 850 Tourer, and an Austin A40 Devon Sedan.
